When veils drop, not that there have been many lately, what happens? Traditional Samhain is most-often celebrated on the 31st of October. Astrological Samhain , this year, is on the 7th/8th of November, as our Sun aligns with 15 degrees of the sign {Scorpio} between September’s Equinox and the Solstice in December. Does this mean that the typical four-day window that manifests during each cross-quarter has lengthened? The late Rory Duff thought so. His observations were that the harmony lines activated at each Solstice, each Equinox, were physically widening to eventually encompass the entire planet. And what of the energy waves? What happens when currents collide? We are all feeling it, especially in the hours when our bodies crave sleep.
Can you not feel the cresting, the increase in swell? The waves have intensified. The inner turbulence can be deafening.
An experienced surfer knows to duck-dive beneath the greater swells of an impact zone. This Samhain window asks for such a maneuver. Starting tonight or tomorrow, we are invited to take the plunge. It can feel a bit like being dragged under. The mind and leftover programming in our bodies may want to flail and rail against the pull. Or, the impulsing can feel like a welcome. We can choose to trust the depths of being, setting aside the board, {bored} for once and allowing ourselves to open and receive more of the totality of all that is. To do this, we have to be wiling to drop all of the ‘world stuff’, including the party favors, and be the love that we are.
Once, or maybe twice, upon a time, the Goddess was river rafting. One of the highlights of the journey was an invitation to climb onto what is known as the ‘jump rock’ and step off, plunging into the river below. It is a Tower experience one chooses. This Samhain wave, by the way, is non-negotiable. Ready or not, we enter the waves. When the embodied Goddess reached the jumping off place, Her body shivered a bit in trepidation. Knowing this fear for what it was, she took a deep, calming breath and stepped off. Initially, her body felt a flash of panic. Then, seconds later, she was immersed in the embrace of the river. Cold shock on a hot day. Instant feeling of water’s embrace, as most of her surface awareness had been bound up in the plunge. Oneness, experienced through a portal of courage and a bit of shock. As she swam/floated downstream, what had been sloughed away left her body, transformed in the river’s loving arms.
This window can be a similar experience. Seemingly more turbulent and potentially terrifying, this is a gentler gate. What if we could let it be so?
What if we could experience surrender into Grace as the gentle, loving flow that it is?
May your Samhain transit be blessed and filled with Grace.
