Dark of the Moon/New Moon
The next new moon forms just after midnight mountain time. That lends lunar stillness and hidden gifts to today’s energetic bouquet. Did you ever walk past a garden or hold a bunch of blossoms in your hands, wondering where that amazing smell was coming from? Which flower? Which tree? The intoxicating odor takes over, if only for a moment. All else subsides. Divine deliciousness floods the brain, overriding anything else the mind might want to offer. Tuberose, Plumeria, and Hyacinth do that to mine.
Once upon an adventure, surrounded by beds of Hyacinth, I was transported to a time and place in Egypt from whence an obelisk had been captured. The stone spire was not the miraculous sight, standing as a trophy in its pilfered position. The inhalation of blue and white breath-taking beauty far outweighed what had been placed to awe the human mind. The floral deluge held a current of enhanced perception, allowing me to more accurately perceive how the stone pillar vibrated and why it had been placed just so. Allied with the flora, as that Presence, Source flipped the switch. Silence. Quiet. The distortion was no more. Waves of heavy scent moved in celebration as divine order was restored.
I once stood motionless with a lei of plumeria blooms around my neck as a bell boy made off with my luggage. I was in divine hands. It did not matter if my baggage was. It did not matter where my baggage went. The scent from the Plumeria blooms wafted me above it all. I fairly floated toward the door marked with the same number as the key I held in one hand. Source held me in hers. The rest did not matter.
Dark of the Moon is a similar passage. It is a reset of deep stillness.. When there is no reflected sunlight from the lunar surface, our gaze turns within. We are what we are with no distortions, no mental modifications, if we allow ourselves to so perceive. The waxing new moon, its crescent not quite visible, holds new perspectives on reality, fresh lenses of perception. What will we choose to see? What will make itself known to our budding vision? Perhaps we have allowed ourselves to forget that every identity, every role, every way we have been taught to view anything, has filters. Many filters are useful for our daily lives, but none hold infinite perception. That is Source’s purview.
Dark of the Moon, especially when the Sun fills the sky, brings us into the realm of deep feeling. This is the world pool, the well of the Infinite, beyond what our eyes can see.
Richard Bach once wrote, “Don’t believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation…”
And yet, there is such beauty to perceive on this world. What if this is our last dance on lovely planet Gaia? What if another world was currently birthing from within her as we stand in awe in the midst of this process? What would it take to blow away our filters and release our minds from their limitations? Perhaps that is one of the reasons we are here, now.
Today’s Dark and New Moons’ cyclic emanations offer just such an opportunity. Subtly, perhaps even sub rosa, our perceptions alter.
This Stillness offers us a unique perception of what we are. Such a blessing!
